Mayor of Nashville admits and apologized for having affair with Sgt. Robert Forrest a police officer who was her head of security.
A Democrat who rose to the post of mayor of the capital of Tennessee after winning the elections in 2015. She had an affair since spring 2016, just months after she joined the office of Mayor.
Forrest who served in the security of two mayors submitted his resignation in January and Wednesday was his last day in office. Forrest who had been in police service for 32 years retired hours before Barry made a statement.
Barry apologized to her husband Bruce and assumed full liability for the agony caused to her own particular family and the family of Sgt. Forrest.

“Today I acknowledged publicly that I have engaged in an extramarital affair with the former head of my security detail,” Barry said in a statement. “I accept full responsibility for the pain I have caused my family and his. I am so sorry to my husband Bruce, who has stood by me in my darkest moments and remains committed to our marriage, just as I am committed to repairing the damage I have done.”

Forrest went with Barry on treks to Paris, Athens, Washington, New York, Denver, Oakland and different urban communities in the previous year.
Nine of the treks were just Barry and Forrest, including a Greece trip in September, as per the daily paper of Washington Post. At first, Barry said each one of the treks had been business-related. Secondly, Forrest’s extra minutes had changed to coordinate her own “aggressive schedule.”
Barry, 54, said she is never again observing Forrest. However, amid the news gathering declined to state when the relationship finished.
“Yes, it’s over. Yes, it’s over,” Barry said when asked repeatedly when the affair ended.
Megan Barry apologized and expressed deep regrets on having an affair which is highly unprofessional. She also expressed a desire to earn back the trust of people of Nashville and definitely her family.
